The Artist

Born in the Republic of Moldova, Ion Severin is a full-time visual artist who works in three main areas: graphic, painting and book illustration.

A graduate of the Graphic Arts Department of the Ukrainian Academy of Printing of Lviv, Ukraine, the artist is known for his distinctive style, pushing the boundaries of conventional art with a unique blend of creativity and precision. This meticulous approach results in artworks that are not only visually stunning but also rich with layers of meaning, inviting art lovers to discover new details and interpretations upon each viewing.   

Notably, during French President Jacque Chirac’s official visit to Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, in 1998, Moldova’s President selected one of Severin’s artworks to be presented as a gift to President Chirac. 

Ion Severin has illustrated more than a hundred books, many of which have won awards at national and international book fairs and exhibitions.  One prize the artist is the proudest of is Certificate of Honour for Illustration, awarded by IBBY President in Basel, Switzerland in 2002, https://www.ibby.org/subnavigation/archives/ibby-honour-list/2002
